SCOTS HOUSE

The Scots House is happy to celebrate Boksburg High School's centenary this year!  Even though the house itself has not been in existence for that long, we treasure the same principles being a smaller school (house) within a bigger entity.

The Scots House is a house founded on passion, pride and perseverance.  We are dedicated and we love what we are doing and in this ever changing house, we want to rise to higher heights and work even harder under new leadership.  The house has had seven deans since the start of the house system in 2010, in which time the Scots House has grown into its more fondly known name, the ‘Golden House’.

Since 2010, the ‘Golden House’ has gained respect in all fields of the Viking Cup. Throughout the years, Scots has walked away with the Cultural Cup and Spirit Cup on numerous occasions. Besides the honoured Boksburg High School Polaris (Academic), Gladiator (Sports), Havamal (Cultural) and Valkyrie (Spirit) cups, Scots house has been a fierce contender in every event over the years and a House whose members celebrate their ‘golden blood’.

In 2020 we are already celebrating the triumph of bringing home the Gladiator Cup for athletics.  We are also the proud holders of the Junior and Senior Victrix Ludorum as well as the Junior and Senior Victor Ludorum.  These five trophies are shining as bright as the golden stars in the house.

Our motto for 2020 is “fire in the belly, ice in the mind”.  Because of the passion we feel, we have a burning and powerful sense of ambition and determination and whilst being on fire in our bellies, we are focussed on staying calm and collected in tough situations, which represents the ice in our minds.

The ‘Golden House’ strives to develop learners who believe in themselves, to work hard as individuals and in teams and to achieve their goals. 

It is of greatest importance that every cub who becomes part of the Scots House walks out at the end of their reign with confidence and even more determination to conquer their dreams and become part of the legacy that is the spirit of Boksburg High School.
