bhs leading the way
At Boksburg High School, we pride ourselves on being leaders in innovation and we feel that technology integration is paramount to today’s academic climate.
VISION STATEMENT OF BOKSBURG HIGH
To achieve our vision, Boksburg High School provides an environment based on traditional values, where all learners are encouraged to reach their full potential with self-discipline, accountability and respect for all.
MISSION STATEMENT OF BOKSBURG HIGH
Boksburg High School strives to be a school dedicated to excellence, producing responsible, well-rounded young people, who contribute meaningfully to society.
ID cards & lanyards
All learners are issued with an ID card and lanyard. Lanyards come in the four House colours which makes it easy to identify to which House a learner belongs. The ID card not only holds vital medical information but also permits entrance to the premises as well as examinations, and is attached to the lanyard. It is compulsory for all learners to wear their lanyards & ID cards at all times.
No bells
The day starts with a 07:40 bell. Thereafter there are no bells to announce the end of periods. This allows for a calmer environment throughout the school, boosting efficiency and maintaining order and discipline. Learners are responsible for monitoring time and they have five minutes to move from one class to the next.
Blazers
Learners at BHS have the opportunity to fulfil a role in service to the school as well as achieve greatly in a sporting activity. We have therefore implemented a collection of blazers that not only identify these learners but also recognise their accomplishments.
Solid purple blazers – Directors
Solid black blazers – Deputy Directors (House Captains)
Black blazers with white stripes – Grade 12 RCL body
Solid green blazers – learners with Colours, Honours or Cum Laude
Black blazer with purple and green stripes – Standard blazer worn by all learners
IT equipment:
Our educators will all be furnished with laptops and every classroom is fitted with a projector and a camera.
By embracing IT, we know we can add value to the educational experience of every learner at BHS. Our facilities include one E-learning (Remedial) centre and two computer centres. Our well equiped library has online research facilities for our learners.
GIS:
GIS is the abbreviation for Geographic Information Systems. The school has the license to run the programme from ESRI (Earth Science Research Institute) which is an American company whose offices are in Midrand. It is a computer-based set of programmes containing spatial information and data which learners are able to access, analyze and manipulate, enabling them to answer questions about the world they live in. The data can be found in the form of charts, maps, images, models, tables and 3D formats. According to the learners, the programmes are fully interactive, challenging and very informative as they are learning a lot along the way through the material. Exposure to these resources enables learners to better understand the world around them. The programmes also prepare them for careers in this field.
Remedial Lab/E-Learning:
We have a fully equipped computer lab with software designed to help learners with English and Mathematics. These programs are designed to make learning fun and easy through games and activities, boosting their confidence in the subject and improving their marks. All grade 8 and 9 classes are assigned one period per cycle to work in the remedial lab. The remedial lab is available every afternoon during the week for learners who wish to make use of it.
Wi-Fi:
We are pleased to announce that we have successfully turned our School into a Wi-Fi Hotspot for use as our internal network. A Wi-Fi network enables us to access the internet and our servers without using cables, making it convenient and easy to work and teach from anywhere in the School. This will pave the way for further technology integration and functionality in the future.
